A hilly circular tour through Saal an der Donau and Langquaid in the Laaber Valley, along the Esperbach and the Feckinger Bach in idyllic countryside. With a bit of luck you will see storks in flight as you go along.
This circular tour starts at the striking church of Christ the King in Saal an der Donau. It takes you out of the town, along the course of the Feckinger Bach, passing the Sippenauer Moor nature reserve, a habitat for a number of rare species, to Hausen. The market square in Langquaid in the Grosse Laaber Valley is an inviting spot for strolling, while the Marktweiher recreational area offers a place to relax.
From Langquaid detours can be made to the pilgrimage church at Hellring and to Paring Abbey church. After that, the tour carries on out of the town and then uphill to Frauenwahl, where the highest point of the tour is reached, before descending again into the Esperbach Valley. The next town, Herrnwahlthann, offers an opportunity to stop off and shortly after leaving the little town there is the chance of a refreshing dip in a small natural pool.
After Kleingiersdorf comes an uphill section where you can enjoy the view of the surrounding valleys. The route then takes you to Oberfecking, after which you meet the Sippenauer Moor again briefly and from there follow the same route as at the start back to Saal an der Donau.
